Ingredients
- Lotus stems(cut into small pieces) 500 g
- Oil 1 tbsp
- Ginger paste 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder 1 tsp
- Coriander powder 1 tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tbsp
- Aniseed(ground) 1/2 tbsp
- Asafoetida(dissolved in a cup of water) a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Rice(dry roasted on a griddle) 1 tbsp
- Green cardamom 4
- Black cardamom 2
- Cinnamon 1 small stick
- Black peppercorns a few
- Almonds(blanched) a few
- Yoghurt 1 1/2 cups
Cooking Directions
- Stir in ginger paste.
- Sprinkle turmeric, red chilli, coriander, cumin and aniseed powders.
- Stir over medium heat till all the pieces are well coated.
- Add the dissolved asafoetida and salt.
- Grind the roasted rice, the green and black cardamoms, cinnamon, black peppercornsand almonds, and mix them with the yoghurt.
- Add yoghurt mixture to the pan and bring to boil on medium heat.
- Cover and simmer gently.
- After few minutes remove from stove but leave covered for a further 5-10 minuteNadru Dam is ready for serve
